Cool Off This Summer

Lucky for Bostonians, the City of Boston is located right on the water. Many Bostonians head to the Cape or the North Shore on the weekends, but there is no need when there are miles of great waterfront available to us in our neighborhoods or just a MBTA stop away.

  1. Revere Beach: As America’s first public beach, Revere Beach is a quick ride away. The 2-mile beach is the perfect place for sunbathers and beach lovers alike. Take the MBTA Blue Line to Wonderland station and it is just a short walk to the beach.
  2. Carson Beach: Less than a half-mile walk from the Red Line’s JFK-UMass station, Carson Beach is an easy beach to get to. The Seaside Cafe offers visitors chowder, hot dogs, hamburgers, and cold drinks for all your summer cravings.
  3. Winthrop Beach: Close to the city for quick jaunts when you don’t have the time to go to the Cape or the North Shore, Winthrop Beach has a nice local charm and is located right outside of East Boston in Winthrop. Grab a zipcar or the bus and head out to Winthrop for the day.
  4. L and M Street Beaches: L and M Beaches are adjacent to one another in South Boston. These local beaches have great amenities including places for sunning on the sandy beaches, picnicking, and swimming.
  5. Malibu and Savin Hill Beaches: Take the Red Line to Slavin Hill. Take a right on Slavin Hill and a right onto Denny Street, and the beach will be at the end of the street.
