Rick Ross arrested on assault, kidnapping charges

UPDATE: The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to EW that Rick Ross was denied bail bond in Fayette County Magistrate Court on Wednesday, and is being held in the county jail. The case is still under investigation.

EARLIER: Rapper Rick Ross, whose real name is William Roberts, was arrested in Fayette County, Georgia, and was charged with kidnapping, aggravated battery and aggravated assault, according to a release from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

“On June 7, 2015 the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation regarding an assault which occurred at a residence on Highway 279 in Fayetteville, Ga,” the release says. “The investigation revealed William Roberts and Nadrian James as suspects responsible for the assault. On June 24, 2015, members of the U.S. Marshalls Southeastern Regional Task Force executed arrest warrants on William Roberts and Nadrian James. They were arrested in Fayetteville, Georgia without incident as a result of this investigation.”

James, who was described in multiple reports as Ross’ bodyguard, was charged with kidnapping and aggravated battery.

Earlier this month, Ross was arrested on marijuana charges, also in Fayette County, and faced misdemeanor charges.
