Summer is finally here, and you will want to ensure your vehicle is in tip-top shape for all your summer travel plans. It takes very little time and money to make sure your car runs properly during the summer months, and although breakdowns happen, you can help minimize them by taking a few extra preventive maintenance steps.

Change Your Oil

Regular oil changes can be one of the most significant ways to extend the life of your vehicle and greatly reduce the risk of engine problems down the road. Refer to your owner’s manual for how often to change the oil in your vehicle or contact one of our knowledgeable service advisors for advice.

Check Your Tires

Tires need special care in warmer weather as summer heat puts added stress on them. To maximize tire life and safety, check your tire’s condition and inflation pressure monthly. Also be sure to have them rotated regularly. Regularly rotating your tires helps evenly distribute tire wear – helping you get the most miles out of your tires.

Check Your Brakes

When it comes to your car’s maintenance needs, one of the most important things you need to keep an eye on is the braking system. Brakes are perhaps the most crucial component of your car when it comes to vehicle safety. If you cannot stop in time, you could end up in an accident. Some signs that your brakes need prompt attention are squeaking or squealing, brake pedal vibrations, or visibly thin brake pads.

Maintain Your A/C

If you’ve ever lost air conditioning on a hot summer day, then you know how important maintaining your A/C can be. The most common cause of a malfunctioning air conditioning unit is a low level of refrigerant, which can be caused by a leak somewhere in the system. Let our expert service team do a quick inspection to ensure your A/C keeps you cool all summer long!

Clean Your Battery

A simple way to help maintain your battery is to make sure that the battery and all of its components are clean and clear. A battery that is starting to show signs of corrosion may need to be replaced in the near future. Dirt and debris can start to gather and form in tight spaces of the battery, and may eventually start to cause issues. You should always make sure the battery is clean, especially around the terminals where the connections are. During regularly scheduled maintenance we can inspect and clean the battery for you! This can be extremely helpful as we may notice some areas and places that you cannot see, or may have forgotten to look at.

Check Your Lights & Wiper Blades

It is also important to ensure all of your lights are in proper working order and that you have a good set of wiper blades installed. Summer showers can unexpectedly start at any moment, so you want to ensure you are prepared.
