‘Masterpiece Mondays’ offered at Open Door Gallery

Open Door Gallery is offering a new opportunity this summer: “Masterpiece Mondays.”

On June 8 and then the first Monday of July and August, art classes will be offered from 6-8 p.m. for adults or children age 5-10 who are  accompanied by an adult.

Fee for the drop-in class is about $20, but the gallery recommends calling for class information or checking Open Door’s Facebook page for updates.

Here is the schedule:

June 8

What: “Up Cycling”

Teacher: Gail Suess-Brandow.

Summary: In the earth-friendly class, students can transform laminate into a beautiful plastic bowl and create a lovely pair of earrings or a pin from a Starbucks can.

Fee: Inclusive cost is $20 with a limit of 15 students.

July 6

What: “Tea and Tangle” with instructor Alison Idriss.

Summary: Students can discover the art of Zentangle, refined doodling at its best.

Fee: TBA.

Aug. 3

What: “The Great Oatmeal Box Challenge.”

Teacher: Sarah Kalasky.

Summary: Students will create something from a white oatmeal box. “Imagination and creativity are useful, but having fun is required,” Kalasky said.

Fee: $12 per child, ages 5 and older; parents are free. Pre-registration is required.
