Voicing the Water at York Literature Festival

A water-themed, rivery, and canal-filled public presentation and reading by Ian Duhig and York-based poet Robert Powell.

Both ‘Voicing the Water’ events are supported by the Canal & River Trust ‘Arts on the Waterways’ programme, Arts Council England, and The Poetry Society. Please note: in a change to the programmed event, poet Ian Duhig will now take part in the “Voicing the Water” public reading in place of Luke Kennard.

Ian Duhig has won the National Poetry Competition twice, and also the Forward Prize for Best Poem; his collection, The Lammas Hireling, was the Poetry Book Society’s Choice for Summer 2003, and was shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize and Forward Prize for Best Collection.His Latest book, The Blind Roadmaker (2016) was shortlisted for the T.S. Eilot Prize. Chosen as a New Generation Poet in 1994, he has received Arts Council and Cholmondeley Awards, and has held various Royal Literary Fund fellowships at universities including Lancaster, Durham, Newcastle and his own alma mater, Leeds.
