ARLINGTON, Tex. — The Yankees brought up lefty Ryan Bollinger from Double-A Trenton on Wednesday.
They had sent righty Giovanny Gallegos down to Triple-A Scranton after Tuesday’s 6-4 loss to the Rangers.
Bollinger, 27, was 3-0 with a 0.90 ERA in three starts for the Thunder. He was a 47th-round pick of the Phillies in the 2009 MLB Draft. Bollinger started the season in Scranton, where he posted a 4.00 ERA in two starts.
He likely provides bullpen depth for the time being.
This is Bollinger’s first year in the Yankees organization. He had been playing Independent League Ball since 2014 — most recently in Australia.
Gary Sanchez exited Tuesday’s game after suffering from cramping in his right calf, but Aaron Boone didn’t think it was serious.
