    Perspectives on Migrating to Cloud Analytic Architectures

    Compelling reasons exist for migrating on-premises enterprise data and analytics platforms onto public cloud platforms, including economics and the mix of new capabilities coming to market. Companies are adapting enterprise data architectures to embrace cloud analytics strategies and capitalize on the agility, elasticity and service orientation facilitated through cloud environments. 

    This topic is geared towards senior architects and analytics leaders and is designed to provide an overview of our recent research related to enterprise hybrid cloud adoption and to discuss practical methods and approaches applicable to their daily work and business challenges.

    Apps vs. Tools: Why BI Adoption Remains Low

    Quoting Gartner’s Cindi Howsen, business intelligence and analytics adoption as a percentage of employees remains flat at 22 percent. This presentation will discuss the barriers enterprises experience in gaining user adoption of analytics among nontechnical users. Use case examples will be provided.

    Based on positive member feedback, we will continue to host fishbowl discussions. Any data management related topics are in scope. Some of these may include:

    • Implementing BI/DW solutions (Resources and roles)
    • Gathering dashboard requirements
    • Best team structure for BI
    • Implementing BI/DW solutions
    • Developing and testing BI/DW environments
    • Real-time analytics
    • Emerging and nontraditional technologies
    • Data lakes—using? Successes and challenges?
    • Dimensional modeling in Hadoop—using? Successes and challenges?
    • No SQL (Aerospike, MongoDB, Cassandra, etc.) in BI—using? Augmenting traditional platforms (Oracle, SQL)?

    We hope to see many take advantage of the discussions and participate.
