CLEVELAND, Ohio -- About a dozen protesters blocked the intersection of Huron Road and East 4th Street just as the Cleveland Cavaliers game tipped off against the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA playoffs.
The group showed up about 8:30 p.m. and was met by about 70 Cleveland police officers who blocked off traffic and allowed them to protest.
Turner Fair, one of the protesters, drew a chalk line at the officers' feet and used a megaphone to say police were the ones who routinely cross the line to unlawfulness. He was borrowing the language of Mayor Frank Jackson and police Chief Calvin Williams who said earlier today that police broke up protests Saturday because people had begun to cross the line.
Fair was one of the protest leaders yesterday as well. Protesters staged a day of protest Saturday after a Cuyahoga County judge cleared officer Michael Brelo in the 2012 shooting deaths of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams.
After he finished his speech to police, Fair took out his phone and ordered a pizza.
The pizza was delivered about 10:15 p.m. and the protesters left.
