A consultation on the preferred strategy for a Replacement Local Development Plan (LDP2) started on 28 June 2019. Ceredigion County Council welcomes comments or observations regarding these documents from members of the public and anyone with an interest or a stake in the development and impacts of development in Ceredigion.
Development plans set out the long term vision for where development should and shouldn't happen in the places they cover. The plan takes into account a number of factors including, new legislation, the Welsh Language, population, affordable housing viability and employment opportunities.
The preferred strategy is the first formal publication in the preparation process of LDP2. The Ceredigion Local Development Plan (LDP1) sets out the Council’s local planning policies and the development of land allocations. A formal review has suggested that the plan needs updating to reflect changes in legislation and information since its adoption in 2013.
In parallel with the consultation on the preferred strategy for LDP2, the Council is issuing a second invitation for landowners to submit details of sites (‘Candidate Sites’) for consideration as allocated development land in the next plan period. In particular, the Council would welcome sites related to the proposed Service Centres listed in the Preferred Strategy. Information on the procedure for submitting Candidate Sites is explained on the council’s website.
Councillor Rhodri Evans is the Cabinet member with responsibility for Economy and Regeneration. He said, “The aim of this consultation is to engage the public in positive planning for the future. We want to make sure that everyone has been given the opportunity to give their views. This is your opportunity to help make sure the plan takes into account the needs of Ceredigion residents.”
