It's Time For A Rethink

It's Time For A Rethink

You see, we've been over it for a while. The models and mentalities that lead to thoroughly underwhelming approaches to innovation. Innovation motivated by cutting costs or copying overseas models vs unicorn-esque growth or a desire to introduce something new to the world - for the better.

It's having a devastating impact on people and businesses. Businesses have redefined "happy" as successfully managing decline. People are redefining "happy" as purely getting a promotion or a pay rise. Deep down, not many of us feel happy with this - but it seems this is where we've got to.

For the last few months we've been plotting our Vivid event. We've been sharing opinions, bouncing ideas around and seem to be finding enough people who are interested in debating a rethink.

On Saturday May 30, we're going to be talking about that rethink. What we've learnt - and can learn - from a new generation of businesses and leaders, and whether we should all just 'dropout' from what we're currently doing and seriously consider starting again.

We'll cover topics like:

  • How Technology And People Are Recoding The Way Business Should Be Done
  • The Industrious Dropout: Exploring The Upside Of Dropping Out Of Today's Established Corporations, Economic Practices, And Mindsets
  • Why Businesses Need Partners Not Agencies.

As well as Damian Borchok, Jason Little and myself from For The People, we'll be joined by some very good friends of ours:

  • Alex Chung, Author and Strategist, formerly with Undercurrent in New York
  • Joel Brydon, Studio Lead at ustwo in Sydney, and incidentally, part of the team that brought Monument Valley into the world

Our aim is to get you to think, rethink, reconsider and, who knows, make that leap that you've been ever so close to for the last few months or years. There's a very exciting future ahead. If you want it.
