Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen aren't returning for Netflix's Fuller House

Whatever happened to predictability? Apparently nothing, because Ashley Olsen and Mary-Kate Olsen will not be returning to play the role of Michelle Tanner on Netflix’s Fuller House.

“Although Ashley and Mary-Kate will not be a part of Fuller House, I know how much Full House has meant to them and they are still very much considered family,” executive producer Robert L. Boyett said in a statement to EW. “It has been exciting to see how they have built their professional careers, and I support their choice to focus on their fashion brands and various business endeavors. I appreciate their support and good wishes towards Fuller House.“

Despite the fact the majority of the original cast —including Candace Cameron-Bure (D.J.), Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie), Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler), John Stamos (Uncle Jesse), and Dave Coulier (Uncle Joey)— has signed on since the reboot was officially announced in April on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the Olsens had yet to make their involvement with the show known until now.

Only a few days after the announcement in April, the two said they were unaware of the planned reboot, which provoked Stamos to tweet that their statement was “bullsh–.” The tweet has since been deleted.

The pair first appeared on the show at 9 months old, sharing the role of the youngest sibling in the household. The news that the two will not be involved with the show was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
