Synopsis for "Showdown"

The temporal energy readings on the planet that is encroaching on the edge of reality are troubling, and though they should retreat, the Oracle refuses, having been rendered blind by the temporal distortions. As Superman worriedly rescues Apollo and The Engineer away from the debris floating around the planet, he realizes that the Oracle has seen that he is about to die, and takes a moment to beg the entity for advice on how to save all of the people on that planet. Grimly, Oracle responds that they cannot be saved.

Thanks to Deimos' manipulations, all of the inhabitants of the planet are now at war with each other. The fight is interrupted, though, by the unexpected arrival of Richard Grayson and Telos, come to put an end to the battle. Though he was their first captor, a group of heroes from disparate worlds decide that he is their best hope against Deimos, and protect him from the sorcerer's counter-attacks.

On the other side of the dimensional wall, Superman and company hear the cry of Deimos, commanding Telos to die, and in the moment of his magical attack, they experience a strange shift, as if all possible versions of themselves coexisted at once.

As Deimos continues pummelling Telos, Dick approaches Yolanda Montez to question her as to whether she learned any of Deimos' weaknesses. She did not, but she does know that he is drawing his power from the fact that he doesn't care about any of the people on the planet. He draws power from the fact that he wants them to die. Hearing this, all of those who had allied themselves with Deimos initially realize that they are in the wrong, and agree to unite with the others against him. Yolanda, meanwhile, has a revelation: Deimos is still afraid of Telos. She can smell his fear. Telos responds that Deimos and his allies should fear him, restraining them with his power. Whatever he had been before, he is still connected to this planet, and it is his power to wield. He captures Deimos and demands that he reveal his true name, but the sorcerer will not give it up, and breaks free of his bonds, only to be blasted by Parallax's ring. Hal grimaces that Deimos wields power for selfish reasons, when it could be used to save and revive lives, like those he lost in Coast City. Coldly, he blasts Deimos into dust.

Telos worries that given the absolute power over all history that Deimos had acquired from the Time Masters, his death means that power has been released. That energy builds into a powerful blast that rips through the Oracle. As he crumbles, he warns that it is not just him that is being ripped apart, but reality itself.
