The city’s Fourth of July fireworks will be bigger and better than ever this year, city officials announced Wednesday.
The Macy’s fireworks show, which was brought back to the East River last year, will now be shot from two locations instead of one, making it visible to more parts of the city.
The two new spots are in Midtown — easily seen from North Brooklyn and Queens — and the South Street Seaport, visible to southern Brooklyn.
“This celebration will light up the sky for millions in Queens, Brooklyn and Manhattan. There’s no question: this will be a dynamite Fourth of July for New Yorkers across the city,” Mayor de Blasio said.
Amy Kule, executive producer of Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks, said the show will fire 1,600 shells per minute and is expected to be seen by more than 3 million spectators.
It’s the largest Fourth of July fireworks display in the country.
