WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina - Geni Roberts of Virginia Wesleyan University men's track and field team finished as the national runner up in the men's long jump at the 2022 Indoor National Championship Meet on Friday afternoon at the JDL Fast rack in Winston-Salem, NC.

Geni Roberts ties Marissa Coombs '17, as the highest placing Marlin at the NCAA Indoor National Championship Meet with a runner up finish in the men's long jump.

Roberts advance to the final round of jumps after recording a 7.24 mark in his third jump of the preliminary flights. In his first attempt in the finals flight, Roberts hit a distance of 7.32M, moving him into second in the standings behind MIT jumper Kenneth Wei who jumped a 7.44M distance, and ultimately finished as the national champion. The Ridgely. Maryland natives' jump was 0.06M further than his career personal best of 7.26M set earlier this season at the 2022 Finn Pincus Invitational.

Senior hurdler, Landry Moffo, ran an 8.35 time in the men's 60M hurdles during the preliminary heat earlier in the day to finish 14th at nationals. He missed advancing to the final heat tomorrow as the cut off qualifying time was 8.17.

Moffo, qualified for the national meet after winning the 60M hurdles at the ODAC Championship meet with his time of 8.09, which set a personal best time for the Marlin, a new program, ODAC, and ODAC Championship meet record.

Roberts competes again tomorrow in the men's triple jump which is scheduled to start at 2 PM. Teammate Jaylyn Lane on the women's track & field team, takes to the straightaway at approximately 11 AM for her shot at an All-American title in the women's triple jump.
