Wedding Must have- Traditional Kundan Jewellery & My Jewellery Haul!

Kundan Jewellery from Confusion fashion accessories – an essential part of Indian Bridal Attire!

Jewellery is an essential part of any Indian Wedding be it Gold or Silver or Gemstone or Kundan. A statement traditional jewellery to go with your Wedding Lehenga and other outfits is a must for all Brides to be. These days more and more Brides are opting for conventional Jewellery that can go with many outfits all together rather than buying single jewellery for each of their traditional dresses. A beautiful Kundan set has always been a hot favorite amongst the Wedding collection and it still stands proudly at that admired place even today. I remember buying a Kundan chokar jewellery set for my Wedding lehenga Saree and  a pair of neutral kundan earrings to go with all my salwar kameez in my wedding trousseau, I still wear them and they look as good as new. That’s the best part about a good quality kundan jewellery, it does not fade off and it gives a rich look complementing any of your outfit be it an Anarkali, A saree or a lehenga.

Traditionally originated from Jaipur and Gujarat, Kundan or Jadau jewellery has been said to be associated with the Royalty & flourished as an Indian traditional jewellery amongst the royalty in the Mughal era. The authentic jadau kundan jewellery of the Maharaja’s era is also called as Polki or Diamond Polki, where the central stones used inside the gold foils are raw unfinished natural diamonds (supposed to be hugely expensive), however a more affordable version of this is the glass kundan that uses a glass gemstone almost similar to the diamond polki. This is the reason Kundan jewellery has always been associated with the Royalty and thus Weddings. The beauty of these glassy gemstones is that they go well with both Silver and gold embroidery and look utmost elegant even if it is a small brooch or an elaborate Kamarbandh. Thus when I was asked to pick up few pieces of jewellery for my Jewellery Haul from Confusion Fashion  Accessories. Traditional Kundan jewellery was my first pick.

Kundan jewellery is basically a concoction of gem stones with pure gold and sometime with artificial metal plated with gold. This gemstones can be all of single colour glass kundans or may be mixed with rubies, emeralds, sapphire, corals and pearls to enhance the look. Lets check out my haul piece by piece and how I styled all these beauties in a traditional Indian Look!

Bridal Must have – Kundal & Pearl Maang Tika

Maang Tikka or Tika is an Indian head-gear to be worn in the maang or parting of your hair. Mostly in the center parting these tikka’s can be of various types ranging from a single pearl drop with chain to more elaborate three sided head-chain with pearls and kundan. I have picked up a pretty simple yet dressy floral maang tika with kundan and white pearls. The florets are made of kundan with a tiny pearl in the middle while they are separated with a single big sized round pearl finishing off with gold plated metal.

The best part about this Tikka is that it can double up as a juda or waist belt hanging over a saree. It has a simple hook at the end of the tikka which can be tucked in the waist while you reveal your waistline in a saree. I remember my mom having exactly similar juda (with a key ring to put keys in them) in silver. This is an another plus for these traditional jewellery that they never go out of trend. Here is how I have styled it with my simple Anarkali dress. I have placed the tikka in a central parting that is slightly tilted towards my right. My hair does not look that great in a central parting anyway so I preferred the slightly titled one.

Bridal Must have – Kundan Earrings

Kundan earrings are not only great for a bridal attire but also for day to day traditional outfits. A pair of neutral (only glass gemstones) earrings can prove to be a great investment. You can pair these lovelies with almost all your traditional outfits be it a saree or heavy lehenga, an anarkali or simple dress. I got myself these neutral pearl and kundan floret earrings that are totally adorable.

As you can see the gold detailing is pretty less and the earrings give overall a shiny glassy look along with the white pearls and thus this can be easily worn with silver embroidery or white outfits where other gold or gold plated earrings do not match.

Bridal Must have – Kundan Brooch

A Bridal Brooch is one of my Must-have’s, just because it can lift up any simple outfit with its sheer elegance. Brooch somehow identifies with royalty for me and when I want to look royally ethnic, I would pick upon an elegant Brooch to style up my outfit.

Brooch’s come real handy while wearing a saree as you can easily tuck your pleats with an enormous brooch and enhance the over all look. You can also wear them on jackets if you are going the bohemian or experimental way. I would love to try these on my jacket saree and I am eagerly waiting to get one. Meanwhile I thought of a little experimenting and used the brooch as a pendent here.

I simple entwined a pearl chain in the pin behind the brooch and doubled it to keep in steady in the center. It is a pretty simple trick and I think it looks fab as a pendent. It goes well with my neutral earrings and maang tikka which is a plus.

Bridal Must have – Mesh Kada or Bracelet

Yet another beauty from Confusion accessories is this Gold Mesh Pearl and Kundan Kada or Bracelet. It has a delicate kundan setting in a round at the center with a small string of pearls surrounding it place intricately over gold mesh in form of an open Kada.
