HBO already won an Emmy its adaptation of Larry Kramer’s The Normal Heart, and now, the network is turning its attention to the influential playwright behind it.

With Larry Kramer in Love & Anger, we get what HBO describes as a “warts and all portrait” into the life of the author, playwright, and activist who was influential in making the AIDS crisis a national issue. He co-founded Gay Men’s Health Crisis and ACT UP (AIDS Coalition to Unleash Power) in the 1980s, and continues to be an advocate for LGBTQ community. In addition to his activism, he’s been awarded for his work in film and theater: A Tony Award for The Normal Heart; an Emmy for HBO’s The Normal Heart, for which he wrote the screenplay, and an Oscar nomination for Women in Love.

The Jean Carlomusto-directed documentary will debut on HBO on Monday, June 29. Check out the trailer below.
