Article content

Ituna, Sask. is in the running to be named Kraft Hockeyville 2017, with a public vote between the town of just over 600 and O’Leary, P.E.I. set to go down to the wire on Monday night.

After an initial 10-candidate shortlist was narrowed to two, each of the eight remaining finalists will bring $25,000 in arena upgrades back to their communities. Wilkie, Sask. placed in the top 10.

The overall winner will be announced during Hockey Night in Canada on April 1, with the winner earning the right to host an NHL pre-season game, and given $100,000 in arena upgrades.

Second place still earns that community $100,000 in arena upgrades, meaning Ituna is in for a windfall either way.
