UpStarter aims to connect talent with top tech employers

27 Sep 2017

UpStarter shows no signs of slowing down as the Irish tech sector flourishes.

Set up by Sean Judge, founder of UniTuition, the sixth UpStarter event will take place next week in Dublin.

Created to connect jobseekers, potential founders and major tech names, there will be more than 20 companies attending the event, with more than 500 jobs available.

Names as big as KPMG, Zendesk, Amazon and PwC will also be present at the event, which is sponsored by Accenture in association with TechIreland and The Irish Times Executive Jobs.

A feast of opportunities

Roles up for grabs vary from AI experts and front-end whizzes, to product managers and customer experience experts, so there will be a broad spectrum of opportunity on the day itself.

According to Judge: “Ireland is continuing to remain one of the most attractive countries in the world for technology companies to base their headquarters. Our highly educated talent pool and diverse workforce makeup has attributed to this significantly. This has led to a huge demand from companies in Ireland for assistance in finding experienced technical employees.”

Pat Moran, cyber leader at PwC, spoke of the benefits the company reaped at previous iterations: “UpStarter allowed us to interact with a huge range of candidates. It gave us the opportunity to inform potential candidates about our cyber, data analytics and technology positions along with our professional services opportunities.”

Employees changing jobs at higher frequencies is a growing trend, and UpStarter is aimed at people with experience that may want a change of scenery from their current role.

Not your average careers fair

Judge explained that the atmosphere at the events is not exactly similar to a traditional careers fair.

“Our event is different than anything else in the recruitment space. It’s casual, takes place in the evening and is more of a networking event over a few drinks than a careers fair. We want people who might not necessarily be looking for a new job to drop in and have a chance to understand the huge variety of positions that exist within Ireland.”

The event will take place from 5pm on Tuesday October 3rd at The Mansion House, Dublin, with free tickets available here.
