Miller takes tough loss; Giants score six in the eighth to shut out Braves 7-0

For the first seven innings, this game flew by in a hurry; if you took a potty break, you'd have missed three innings. Once the eighth inning came around, however, the game devolved into Barves territory.

The Giants put the game away with a six-run eighth inning to back up a strong outing by Chris Heston in shutting out the Braves 7-0.

Both Heston and Shelby Miller held the opposing offense to just one hit through five innings. Both offenses also had a chance to score in the sixth, but came away empty, and the game went to the seventh still scoreless.

Miller induced 10 groundouts in seven innings with only one strikeout, but made only one mistake and it cost him. One out into the seventh, Brandon Belt hit a pitch into the first row in left field for the first run of the game. The Braves still had a chance at this point, but that chance was all but gone one inning later.

Brandon Cunniff allowed four straight hits after a leadoff walk in the eighth; Donnie Veal wild-pitched another run home and allowed back-to-back doubles. Six runs scored before the final out of the inning, and turned what was a brilliant pitching duel into a hot mess.

Juan Uribe had one of Atlanta's four hits in the game.
