Mumford & Sons debut 'Tompkins Square Park' live video

On Monday, folk outfit-turned-arena rockers Mumford & Sons released the latest content off Wilder Mind (which itself releases Monday in the U.K and Tuesday, May 5, in the U.S.)—a live music video of “Tompkins Square Park,” a breakup anthem that honors Mumford’s adopted home, New York City, and sees the band at their most War-On-Drugs-iest.

While having a Mumford opinion is all but mandatory these days, what’s not up for debate is that the London-bred group is one of the best live acts currently touring. “Park,” downbeat and contemplative as it is, isn’t necessarily the best illustration, but they’re still capable of making a record crackle with the sound of the living when you get to see them behind their mic stands.

The group also announced today that in conjunction with SiriusXM they’ll be hosting an invite-only performance in New York on Saturday, May 9, for subscribers. They’ll play at the The Heath at the McKittrick Hotel, and the performance will stream on their limited-run Sirius channel, the appropriately named “Mumford & Sons Radio.” The station will feature their favorite songs from other performers, previous Mumford & Sons performances, their new music, and taped interviews in which the band tells stories from the making of the new record. The channel launched Monday and will run through Saturday’s set.

The band will tour in support of Mind. Kicking off with a two-night stand at MCU Park on Coney Island (New York), they’ll wrap around North America and Europe and play headlining slots at Bonnaroo and Outside Lands Festivals before wrapping at the end of August. A full list of dates is available on their website.
