Local doctor accused of exposing himself to teenager outside a Lower Macungie Wawa

A local medical resident accused of exposing himself to women at Muhlenberg College now faces accusations he was fondled himself outside a Lower Macungie Township convenience store.

Pennsylvania State Police on Thursday charged 28-year-old Jeffrey Zapora with a single misdemeanor count of indecent exposure for allegedly sitting stripped to the waist in his car outside the Wawa off Route 100 and masturbating.

The Lutherville, Maryland, resident is free on bail in relation to the Muhlenberg College case, and a summons for the new charges will be mailed to Zapora.

His attorney, Gavin Holihan, declined comment Thursday.

State police went to the Wawa on March 25 for a report of a man exposing himself in the parking lot. A 17-year-old girl told police she was getting into her car, when a man in the car parked next to her with the window rolled down said hello, according to court records.

The teen told police she could see he wasn't wearing any pants and that he was masturbating, records indicate. She was unable to note the car's license plate number, but was able to describe him as a young man with red hair.

The teen told police a few days later that she saw a television news report about an arrest made by the Allentown Police Department, according to court records. The man pictured in the report was "without a doubt the person who had exposed himself to her at Wawa," according to court records.

In her formal statement to state police, the teen said she had seen online news reports about a man police arrested for exposing himself to Muhlenberg College students, according to records. She saw a photo of the man and identified him as the person she saw in the parking lot, records indicate.

Allentown police identified the man as Zapora.

Allentown police previously charged Zapora with two counts of indecent exposure for allegedly exposing himself on two separate occasions to women walking through the Muhlenberg College campus. In each case, the victim reported a man sitting in a red car.

Before his arrest, Zapora was a first-year plastic surgeon resident with Lehigh Valley Health Network, but has since been suspended pending further investigation, according to a spokesman. Zapora has a medical training license and is not yet licensed to practice independently.

Police said if there are other women who believe they were victimized by Zapora, they should call the Allentown detectives bureau at 610-437-7721.
