I-League 2017-18: Chennai City FC bolster squad with two new signings

Chennai City FC have made use of the January transfer window to sign South Sudan international Duach Jock and Kyrgyz international Aman Talantbekov.

Duach, who is nicknamed 'The Tower', is all set to become the tallest player in I-League history at 1.98m.

“I am very excited to start this new journey in my career. To be honest. India is a beautiful country with rising standards of football. I want to take up this challenge and be part of this growing phenomenon," said Jock.

Defensive lynchpin Veniamin Shumeiko will find another compatriot in Aman, who has been capped at both U-20 and U-23 levels.

“Talgat Bektur (of Churchill Brothers) and Veniamin have told me a lot about Indian football. I was curious and wanted to experience the standard of football myself. I don’t know much about Chennai as a city but the fans can be assured that I will give my very best on the pitch. I will also spend the time to understand and learn about its culture and heritage," expressed Aman.

Duach hopes that he can use his towering presence in the opponent box to score some useful goals from set-pieces and help his team finish in the top four.

“I have heard that the Chennai City fans are a passionate lot so we can only repay their faith by winning. Without them, we are nobodies. Hence, I just want to win games, climb up the table and keep the fans happy. I hope they will come in droves to support us in the final run-in.”

The 25-year-old Aman acknowledges that the job at hand will not be easy but he will give his best to turn the fortunes of the men in green.

“It is not going to be easy for Duach and me because it takes time for us to reach a certain level of understanding with the current crop of players and this cannot be done overnight. Nevertheless, I have always been known to be a fighter and rest assured that I will fight to help the club achieve its goals.”

Chennai City FC currently sit eighth on the table with nine points from 10 matches.
