Montague Villa, hotel in Dunoon

Featuring 4-star accommodation, Montague Villa is located in Dunoon, 5.6 km from Benmore Botanic Garden and 8.8 km from Blairmore and Strone Golf Glub.

The property was ideally situated for our needs. It was spotlessly clean and the lounge was outstanding in decor; very pleasant and comfortable. The breakfast was absolutely outstanding, with superb choice and perfectly cooked. Loved the additional touch of sliced sausage and clootie dumpling! The preserves were all home-made and tasted terrific! Hosts, too, were exceptional in their welcome and willingness to please.

I found Dunoon to be a pleasant and friendly town with all the amenities i needed. Cowal is a beautiful part of Scotland with tremendous opportunities for outdoor recreation. I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys the outdoors, yet is close to Glasgow and its amenities.

A trip to Benmore gardens was worthwhile and the surrounding area is outstandingly beautiful. Dunoon it.self is beginning to feel a bit run down and neglected, very limited eating options at night even at the weekend where you strugle to find anywhere after 8pm still serving food apart from carry out food .

Dunoon is a lovely little town that needs to advertise its wares much more effectively. In particular opportunities for walking in the surrounding countryside. There is a reasonable range of shops and places to eat but opening times are too restricted to attract more tourists.

Castle House Museum Gardens are beautiful and well worth the hike up to the flagpole for the view. Food and service at the Lorne Bar are excellent St Ives Hotel has a beer garden worth checking out at weekends and right next to the water. Easy to walk around. Swallow cafe could do with some staff training the person serving ice cream had an attitude issue.

Clean, spacious, well appointed, fabulous location. You can't pay for the view from the Heron bedroom. The property is beautifully located just outside of Dunoon, with plenty of parking. Richard was the perfect host, welcoming and informative. I'd recommend booking somewhere to eat in advance as everywhere was booked up. We took a little wander to the Oakbank Hotel for a drink, filled up on crisps and beer and had a great night with the locals. Breakfast was excellent and very welcome.

Only 5 mins walk from the foot passenger ferry terminal. Ideal setting right on the esplanade thus the name lol. Positioned perfectly for lovely walks and always people walking with or without dogs say hello. The hotel itself is wonderful and the staff go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. Breakfast and dinners are great as is the overall service, very friendly. I booked 3 nights but ended up staying 4 and have already booked another week in September, can't wait.

Absolutely fabulous breakfast. Choices to fit every need and well prepared! The room was comfortable, bed exquisite, slept like a baby. The bonus family room was so comfortable after a long day. Nice to watch TV on a comfortable sofa. Alison and Drew were available to answer any questions, provide suggestions for dinner and had a great taxi service available if we wanted a drink at dinner. Everything was comfortable, relaxing and exceeded our expectations on every level!

Room was scrupulously clean and tastefully decorated. The fridge in the room was a bonus as the milk for tea was fresh. Breakfast was well presented and plenty of it, and the view from the breakfast table was 2nd to none. There is plenty of off road parking and the B&b is central for lots of trips and activities in Argyll and Bute. We had to arrange an earlier check in time to fit in with a family wedding. The hosts happy to help us with this.

We love the flat for its central location and cleanliness. Wifi and kitchen facilities are good .The flat is very quiet and the key safe makes entry easy . Ross is easy to communicate with and we have enjoyed 3 stays so far . The flat is opposite the promenade and swimming baths . Morrisons and the cinema is close by . Dunoon has plenty of entertainment available . It's wonderful for outdoor walkers ,cyclists etc.

The location is great. The rooms are very comfortable. The staff are lovely & helpful, and the breakfast was fab! The only downside is it’s supposed to be a pet friendly hotel, but you can only take your dog in your room. It’s a shame you can’t take it in the bar and eat your breakfast, it’s understandable that it’s not allowed in the restaurant…

Gorgeous lodge, very clean and the area is lovely. Loved that it was dog friendly. We often stay in Dunoon to visit our family there and it was probably the nicest of places we have stayed at so far. The underfloor heating in the bathroom was pleasant, though the shower itself doesn’t have the best pressure.

The two room suite we had was quite excellent! Very comfortable and a great location in Dunoon! Very clean and accommodating! We tried to rebook when we immediately step foot in for our next portion of the visit, but it was already booked for somebody else. Next time we are in town, we will be booking here!

Booked this property for 3 of our guys who were working in the area recently. Feedback from them was all good. So much so that they wanted to return the following week, unfortunately the property was fully booked. Good contact from the host prior to arrival.
