Sweetwater police officer arrested in narcotics investigation

Christopher Heredia, 25, facing multiple drug charges

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. ā€“ A Sweetwater police officer is facing charges after he was arrested in a narcotics investigation in Miami-Dade County on Thursday.

The Miami-Dade Police Department identified the officer as Christopher Heredia. Police said Heredia, 25, told detectives that he was currently relieved of duty.

Police said Heredia was buying cocaine in the area of Quail Roost Drive and Southwest 114th Avenue when he was arrested.

He was charged with purchase of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A woman identified as Tina Schofield, 37, was also arrested in the sting and charged with sale of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sweetwater Police Department released a statement saying Heredia is "relieved of duty pending the outcome of an internal investigation."
