FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (WSVN) - WSVN owner Ed Ansin was among several South Florida community leaders who received a high honor from Habitat for Humanity of Broward, Wednesday night.
The organization held its annual Spirit of Humanity Awards at the Hyatt Pier 66 in Fort Lauderdale.
In addition to Ansin, Steve Hudson, the Vice President of the Hudson Family Foundation, as well as Rick and Rita Case of Rick Case Automotive Group, were honored. They were recognized for their contributions to a planned community of 77 new homes in Pompano Beach.
“It’s a wonderful occasion. It’s very gratifying for people to recognize what an important event this is and how important Habitat is for our community,” said Ansin.
“We’re so excited to give back to this community in any way we can, and Habitat is one of the best ways we can do that,” said Rick Case.
“To think we’re going to put 77 families, over 300 people, in their own home in Pompano, in such an amazing location. We are so proud to be a part of it,” said Rita Case.
“There’s tremendous impact for the families moving to these homes,” said Steve Hudson. “The last project that we were involved with, they had 30 homes, and we were at the keys ceremony and the families receiving their keys, going to their homes for the first time, and the building of community that created was awesome.”
“Today in Florida” anchor Alex de Armas emceed the event.
The new community should raise nearly $400,000 in mortgage revenue. A Habitat spokesperson said that money will be reinvested to build even more homes.
