ASU falls in nationally televised eSports championship

ASU took on Cal in the Heroes of the Dorm championships.

ESPN2 brought "ESPN 8, The Ocho" to life on Sunday night, and it exceeded all of our wildest expectations.

Arizona State took on Cal in the Heroes of the Dorm championship in Los Angeles, which is a college computer game tournament with the game, "Heroes of the Storm." It was a hard-fought match (I think), but ASU fell to the students from Cal. Another heartbreaker.

But even though many had no idea what was happening, the event became must-watch TV.

At one point, ASU "went ham on the core!" Amazing.

The announcers could not get enough of the excitement.

But in the end, it was just another tough loss for ASU "athletics."

ASU football's Twitter account tweeted the date of this season's game at Cal. The revenge game is set.

Nobody loves the Pac-12 more than Bill Walton, and when it comes to Heroes of the Dorm, he had to give a shoutout to the "conference of champions."

Heroes of the Dorm - I have never been so proud. Go Pac12, no truck stops here. Just reporting the facts

ASU quarterback Manny Wilkins reminded Cal who wins in football.

This ode to Jameis Winston's championship interview was my favorite tweet of the night.

"I said, 'Are you strong?' They said, 'I'm strong if you strong.' I said, 'We strong, then.'"

It just goes to show that with the power of Twitter, there is a market for obscure sports.
