Seaport Smorgasburg is making its debut in the Seaport District for another season of tasty treats for everyone to enjoy. This seasonal event will begin this coming Memorial Day Weekend on Thursday May 21st until the middle of October. “Smorgasburg” is sponsored by The Howard Hughes Corporation. This specific event originated in 2013 and was the foundation of the SEE/CHANGE marketing campaign which was intended to revitalize the community after Hurricane Sandy.
All NYC foodies are probably wondering if vendors from past Smorgasburg events will be returning to this years eats – and, thankfully, they are! Faithful favorites include Cemita’s Mexican sandwiches, Pizza Moto, Milk Truck grilled cheese, and Red Hook Lobster Pound. These returning vendors will be joined by several newcomers this season: Lonestar Empire known for their slow-smoked Texas-Style brisket, Lumpia Shack, Filipino rolls, the Ramen Burger, and lastly Schnitz, which will be offering their classic breaded-chicken sandwiches.
Seaport Smorgasburg will take place on the cobblestoned Fulton Street with historic sites and scenery to set the tone for anyone who attends. Vendors will be operating from innovative standalone pods. The pods offer the contending vendors running water, refrigeration, electricity, lighting and locked storage. These amenities are a helpful resource for both the vendors and the customers; making the experience that much more enjoyable.
Smorgasburg will also provide a full bar where guests can relax and mingle. Many of the vendors will also offer delivery services to locals and businesses if needed.
As part of the cultural event series, Smorgasburg will include a variety of performances for patrons to enjoy throughout the summer season, which will appear on the Howard Hughes Inc. website.
Commencing opening day on May 21st, Seaport Smorgasburg can be found on Fulton Street and will be open Mondays-Thursdays 11:30am-8:00pm, Fridays from 11:30am-9:00pm, Saturdays from 10:30am-9:00pm and Sundays from 10:30am-8:00pm.
