Exploring Jezebel's Family Tree: Daughter Witchcraft, Part I

Exploring Jezebel's Family Tree: Daughter Witchcraft, Part I

Ah witchcraft. For so long, I thought the terms “Jezebel” and “witchcraft” were synonymous. But upon years of experience and study, I realised that they are not. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

We’ve met the parentals, Baal and the Queen of Heaven. (See Part I, Part II, and Part III.) Then we met Jezzy’s personalities: Delilah, Herod, and Absalom. After that we met her siblings, twin brothers, Perversion and AntiChrist, as well as their sister, Religion. And now, we begin to meet Jezebel’s children, starting with Witchcraft.

It’s What She Does

As aforementioned, the terms “Jezebel” and “witchcraft” are not, in fact, synonymous. Witchcraft, like harlotry (idolatry) is not what Jezebel is, but rather, what she does.

Now it happened, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, “Is it peace, Jehu?” So he answered, “What peace, as long as the harlotries of your mother Jezebel and her witchcraft are so many?” (II Kings 9:22)

Witchcraft is something Jezzy births, produces, manufactures, teaches. It’s like the Nike symbol: we call it Nike, but it is not Nike itself. Yet whenever we think of the symbol, we think of the brand. Witchcraft is Jezebel’s symbol; her trademark. Jennifer LeClaire addresses this somewhat messy distinction in her book Satan’s Deadly Trio: Defeating the Deceptions of Jezebel, Witchcraft and Religion:

You have to untangle the spiritual knot to take down the strongman because layers and layers of demonic string sometimes protect the core. If you pull the wrong string, the knot can get tighter instead of looser. As I have suggested, you could possibly open a door to warfare you are not ready to handle by pulling the wrong strings. (pg. 180)

Discernment is of the utmost importance. You think you’re going after Witchcraft, but really, you’re going after her mother, Jezebel. You may think you’re battling Aunt Religion, but really, you’re battling the niece, Witchcraft. You could be deducing Witchcraft, but really, you’re dealing with “Mama” Herod. Jennifer goes on to say:

You cannot wage spiritual warfare with your intellect. You cannot depend on deduction. You need the Holy Spirit’s mind on the matter. You need discernment…. You could be wasting your energy, spinning your wheels–and, as Paul the apostle said, buffeting the air–by going after the wrong spirit. You could also be picking a fight with a spirit that was not even harassing you! (pg. 180)

All of these spirits are so intertwined like den of vipers, that it’s hard to tell which is which. But God’s Spirit, the ultimate bane of Jezebel, guides us into all Truth.

But what is Witchcraft, this wicked daughter of Jezebel?

Witchcraft is Rebellion: The Original Baal Worship

For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, And stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. (I Samuel 15:23)

I’ve already discussed rebellion thoroughly in this post, so I won’t belabour the point here.

Have you ever come across a niece who looks *just* like her aunt? Or maybe, like her grandmother? Well, that is the case with Witchcraft: this spirit is almost identical to her aunt, Religion (Idolatry), who is practically identical to her mother, the Queen of Heaven. They all look like each other. The Prophet Samuel likened witchcraft to rebellion which originated with Baal (and Asherah) who were the original instigators, next to Satan himself, of Idolatry. In fact, you could even say that Witchcraft is idolatry (see below). But we’ll save that for my next point.

The Bible expressly forbids Witchcraft in all of its forms as well as all of its practitioners. Some examples of witchcraft are:

  • divination

  • sorcery

  • wizardry

  • astrology

  • herbology (with rituals & incantations, etc.)

  • necromancy

  • magic (black, white, rainbow, etc.)

  • and others

Some religions that are or implement witchcraft are:

  • Wicca

  • Voodoo

  • Santeria

  • New Age

  • Satanism/Church of Satan

  • and others

Some practitioners of Witchcraft are:

  • Medicine Men

  • Shamans

  • Witch Doctors

  • Curanderos

  • Faith Healers (non-Christian)

  • Wizards/Sorcerers/Magicians (authentic, not frauds)

  • Astrologers

  • Necromancers

  • Mediums

  • Psychics/Fortune Tellers/Soothsayers

  • Palm Readers

  • Tea Leaf Readers

  • Those who read animal/human entrails

  • Those who read water, blood, etc. puddles

  • Those who interpret omens

  • Brujahs

  • Spiritists

  • and others

Scripture states:

There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead. (Deuteronomy 18:10-11)
Also he made his son pass through the fire, practiced soothsaying, used witchcraft, and consulted spiritists and mediums. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke Him to anger. (II Kings 21:6)

Basically, any person who attempts to utilize a power for any reason outside of the power of God (see below) and outside of the parameters set in Scripture is a witch and any power they operate in is NOT the power of God.*

*Situations in Scripture like when the Witch of En Dor called up the spirit of Samuel who was dead and awaiting Paradise in Abraham’s Bosom as well as the story of Balaam prophesying to Israel were exceptions to the rule. God had a very distinct purpose in allowing those situations and as God, He can use anyone and anything, just as He used Balaam’s donkey. HOWEVER, this is in NO WAY a promotion or allowance of witchcraft in any of its forms.

Witchcraft and those who practice it are in direct rebellion to God Almighty, whether they know and or acknowledge it or not. Many such as mediums and psychics these days truly do not understand this and believe they are assisting God in a similar way that a prophet or minister would. Robin Harfouche tells her own experience with the New Age here. In fact, feel free to check out the full Witchcraft & Deliverance Chronicles here.

Witchcraft is Idolatry

Not only is Witchcraft rebellion, but it is also idolatry. It elevates your will, your knowledge, and your perceived wisdom over the Word and wisdom of God. And it does so stubbornly. Witchcraft replaces the will of God, the timing of God, and the ways of God with your own ways or even the ways of Satan himself. It says, “My will be done on earth,” not “Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven.”

Witchcraft is a Demonic Counterfeit of God’s Power

Just as Jezebel is a counterfeit of the prophets of God, her child, Witchcraft, is a counterfeit of the Spirit of God. There are many examples of this in Scripture.

And the Lord said to me, “The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I have not sent them, commanded them, nor spoken to them; they prophesy to you a false vision, divination, a worthless thing, and the deceit of their heart.” (Jeremiah 14:14)
“They have envisioned futility and false divination, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord!’ But the Lord has not sent them; yet they hope that the word may be confirmed. Have you not seen a futile vision, and have you not spoken false divination? You say, ‘The Lord says,’ but I have not spoken.” (Ezekiel 13:6-7)
Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” And this she did for many days. But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities. (Acts 16:16-16)

There are even modern-day “prophets” who deceive the masses, even the elect (the saved), yet they are diviners. Prayer lines are wonderful, awesome, and necessary, I worked at one years ago for the Oral Roberts Evangelistic Association (OREA). I’ve utilized them myself. But there is a distinct difference between a PRAYER line and PROPHECY line. We are commanded to pray ceaselessly, at all times; but not so for prophecy. In fact, I wager that if we prayed more and acquainted ourselves with God Himself more, then we would seek prophets less. (And you know I’m being unbiased when I say that because I am called to prophetic ministry.)

Yet these prophecy lines thrive. In truth, they’re just evangelical psychic hotlines. Who needs Miss Cleo when you have Prophet Bernard Jordan (or his son Manasseh Jordan)? You can just call this “prophet’s” prayer line and his people will have a ready-made prophecy for you. I would venture to say that the people who work on lines such as these are really doing it because they are, likely called to prophetic ministry and, like many psychics, want to do good and help people. After all, the spirit of Jezebel often targets those called to ministry in intercessory and prophetic capacities. But it doesn’t erase the fact that these people are 9.7 times out of 10 operating in familiar spirits instead of the Spirit of God. And the worst part is, most of them don’t even know it. And if prophecy hotlines aren’t your thing, you can just go to Bernard Jordan’s website, fill out an extremely detailed form through which he and his people will be able to DIVINE a prophecy, tailor-made by Satan, just for you. Here’s a screenshot of the form.

Now, when was the last time you read about one of the prophets in Scripture requiring a person’s tent address, sandal size, and personal information, in order to give them an accurate prophecy?? Anyone? Anyone at all? That’s because God doesn’t operate like that. As thoroughly described in this post, these “prophets” are not given words of prophecy and wisdom from God, but information from familiar spirits associated with the items (i.e. you, your family/loved ones, your house, your car, your belongings, etc.). Earthquake Kelley describes this phenomenon plainly in his testimony. Pre-Jesus, he was trained as a voodoo practitioner and learned much from his grandmother and he learned exactly how these practitioners operate, how these spirits operate, and how they deceive even the people of God (see below).

I recently read Unmasking the Jezebel Spirit by the late John Paul Jackson and MY GOODNESS!!! It is seriously the best teaching I’ve ever come across on this spirit. Anyhoo, while reading it, and remembering my own many experiences with a certain Jezebel, I realised that she herself was operating in familiar spirits, probably still does. I truly believe that she doesn’t know it.

She often mentioned how when she spoke to people face to face or even read a text from them, she could “scan them” (read their soul/spirit) to see what was going on with them. It’s taken six years and JPJ’s book for me to realise that this was divination and consorting with familiar spirits. I really believed for the longest that it was just God telling/showing her things. But it wasn’t. She can pick up a familiar spirit via text message just as she could hear from familiar spirits when she spoke to or touched a person. Perhaps you know of someone who operates the same way? Just like the psychic on one episode of Bones, she picks up on the spirits attached to those items and persons. And as long as people ignore their initial red flags and icky feelings in their spirit about her, they will continue to set aside the warnings from the Spirit of God and believe that she is operating in the Spirit of Truth. It’s a snare.

In addition to divination and similar black arts, the Bible warns us time and time again of false prophets, false ministers, and false Christs who will operate in signs and wonders, from Genesis to Revelation. The intent: deception.

Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “When Pharaoh speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’” So Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded. And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and it became a serpent. But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments. For every man threw down his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their rods. And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as the Lord had said. (Exodus 7:11-13)
For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. (Matthew 24:24, see also Mark 13:22)
But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great, to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.” And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time. (Acts 8:9-11)
The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. (II Thessalonians 8:9-10)
Then the sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, and its water was dried up, so that the way of the kings from the east might be prepared. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. For they are spirits of demons, performing signs, which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty. (Revelation 16:12-14)

From cover the cover, alpha to omega, the Bible shows us those who practice witchcraft and sorcery for the sake of the deception of God’s people as well as those who would become God’s people. If they can fascinate the masses with the ungodly supernatural as Jannes and Jambres did in Ancient Egypt, then why would people seek out the godly supernatural? Perhaps, they even believe that the supernatural has only one side; that the practitioner of it is what makes the distinction, but that is not true. There are good people who just so happen to practice witchcraft and magic. Similarly, there are also bad people (i.e. those who lack character or, perhaps, have a Jezebel spirit) who, for a time, are able to demonstrate the godly supernatural. It is the source of the power that makes a difference, not the person alone. The power of God IS demonstrated and is a seal of those who are His. Yet the demonstration of power alone is NOT equivalent the approval of God. If we’re not careful, we who are the elect, may be deceived. Witchcraft is a snare to humanity.

Witchcraft is a Snare to Humanity

“Likewise, son of man, set your face against the daughters of your people, who prophesy out of their own heart; prophesy against them, and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Woe to the women who sew magic charms on their sleeves and make veils for the heads of people of every height to hunt souls! Will you hunt the souls of My people, and keep yourselves alive?” ...Therefore thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I am against your magic charms by which you hunt souls there like birds. I will tear them from your arms, and let the souls go, the souls you hunt like birds. I will also tear off your veils and deliver My people out of your hand, and they shall no longer be as prey in your hand. Then you shall know that I am the Lord. Because with lies you have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and you have strengthened the hands of the wicked, so that he does not turn from his wicked way to save his life. Therefore you shall no longer envision futility nor practice divination; for I will deliver My people out of your hand, and you shall know that I am the Lord.”’” (Ezekiel 13:17-18, 20-23)

We’ve already touched on this deeply in the last point, but it’s worth reiterating. While I firmly and absolutely believe there are those who enjoy the idea of ensnaring people with their witchcrafts like Balaam and the wicked women of Midian, I believe more often than not, it is the spirits driving these practitioners of magic who seek to ensnare people. But either way, the damage is done. The Prophet Ezekiel paints a very vivid picture for us of what this ensnaring looks like. (It’s also strikingly reminiscent of the dress of the Druid Priestesses found in the British Isles and Western Europe.) These are they who “hunt the souls of [God’s] people.” What a haunting statement! Time and time again, idolatry is described as a “snare” to the people of God in Scripture. God chose His words carefully. And just as idolatry is a snare, so is Witchcraft. Like Delilah, she seduces the people, lulls them to sleep in her idolatrous lap, and delivers them to their destruction.

Snares are presented in an interesting way in Scripture.

Stealer of Substance

Because the hungry eat up his harvest, Taking it even from the thorns, And a snare snatches their substance. (Job 5:5)

A Net Which Catches Your Feet

For he is cast into a net by his own feet, And he walks into a snare. The net takes him by the heel, And a snare lays hold of him. (Job 18:8-9)

Pierces Your Nose (Discernment)

Though he takes it in his eyes, Or one pierces his nose with a snare. (Job 40:24)

[Attempted] Death

The sorrows of Sheol surrounded me; The snares of death confronted me. (II Samuel 22:6, Psalm 18:5)
Those also who seek my life lay snares for me; Those who seek my hurt speak of destruction, And plan deception all the day long. (Psalm 38:12)

A Bird Caught in a Net

Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers; The snare is broken, and we have escaped. (Psalm 124:7)
As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life. (Proverbs 7:23)

There are many, many more types of snares, but you get the idea. It is a deceptive plan concocted by your enemy, either spiritually or literally, to catch and intentionally, destroy you.

It puts me in mind of a verse from Solomon:

Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight. (Proverbs 26:2)

Curses often, although not always, come through Witchcraft. Be it it harsh, evil words spoken in a moment of anger or an intentional curse spoken by a formal witch against you or even something negative spoken over yourself, a curse without a reason will not come upon you, will not be in your bloodline.

Now I’m not necessarily saying that you deserved the curse. What I will, however, say is that when we are not God’s children (Christians) and even when we are, yet for whatever reason remove ourself from His divine protection, we open ourselves up to the possibility of curses coming upon us.

Example: According to the Prophet Malachi, when we do not tithe, we rob God. We rob His ministers, our pastors, those who shepherd the local flocks. Some do this intentionally, others out of ignorance, or perhaps because the ministers they subscribe to teach that tithing is an Old Testament concept under the Law (it is not; tithing preceded and proceeded the Law). Regardless of why they don’t do it, the outcome is the same: the devourer (Satan) is not rebuked in their life. This is a curse that they brought upon their self. (And anyone who teaches this, leads people astray and likely, invites a curse on their own head and household as well.)

If we are in ignorance of certain activities (i.e. many baby boomers played with Ouija boards without knowing it was wrong; many don’t know palm readings or horoscope readings are bad, etc.) or do not learn about the workings of the enemy through Scripture, then ignorance is the darkness through which a curse is allowed to come upon us. Also, often, families keep secrets. Likely for the sake of the family name or personal dignity, many past occurrences go unaddressed and thus (i.e. alcoholism, abuse/molestation, fornication, adultery, bigamy, mental illness, etc.), curses are able to pass down from generation to generation unhindered--regardless of whether or not a person is saved.

If we speak against someone wrongly, gossip or slander, we can qualify for a curse.

If we condemn the mantle under which a [wo]man of God operates, we can come under a curse (be judged by that same mantle).

If we pick a fight with a principality or some other high-level demonic spirit that we are not equipped for, you may open yourself up to a curse.

If we in our ignorance or incorrect teaching try to return/double and send back a curse on someone who has cursed us, we come under a curse. (Scripture commands us to love our enemies, to be kind to them, and to pray for those who despitefully use us. This is because the spiritual law indicates that what you sow, you reap; what you speak on another, will come back on you.)

Again, I am not saying anyone has a right to curse another human being. Only God can do/allow that. And His “curses” are either one of two things: 1) the natural and spiritual repercussion of the removal of His hand (blessing) on a person, place, or thing (this includes ignorantly/willfully leaving His umbrella of protection) or 2) a direct judgment due to an iniquitous pattern (an intentionally repeated sin in a person or place). Merriam-Webster defines the word “curse” as:

Magical words that are said to cause trouble or bad luck for someone or the condition that results when such words are said; a cause of trouble or bad luck; a prayer or invocation for harm or injury to come upon one : imprecation; something that is cursed or accursed; evil or misfortune that comes as if in response to imprecation or as retribution; a cause of great harm or misfortune :  torment...

A curse against someone is generally thought of as a negative or black form of witchcraft and magic; many who practice these arts refuse to speak curses or do so as a last resort. It is an obvious snare to a person by those witches and magicians who intonate them and even those who won’t.
