Shop with SNAP at local Farmers’ Markets; enjoy fresh produce now

Delaware residents who receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits can now enjoy the benefits of fresh produce by shopping at community farmers’ markets statewide.

Ten markets accept EBT cards, and two (Lewes and Newark Co-op) offer double benefits, according to Kathy Jackson, a state Department of Agriculture marketing specialist. That means those two markets match SNAP benefits dollar for dollar, so benefits go twice as far.

The markets in New Castle County are: Carousel Park Farmers’ Market, Glasgow Park Farmers’ Market, Rockwood Park Farmers’ Market, Westside Farmers’ Park, at Cool Spring, and Newark Farmers’ Market.

Downstate markets are the Historic Lewes Farmers’ Market and the Historic Lewes Farmers’ Market at Kings Highway, Dover’s Capital City Farmers’ Market, and Milford’s Riverwalk Farmers’ Market.
