A record store's record store.
Used punk, hip-hop and experimental are predominately what you'll find as you filter through the stacks. Prices were relatively on the inexpensive side sans reissues from the Clash, Springsteen and the Replacements.
The guy behind the counter was friendly. He was a little preoccupied dealing with a record snob looking to make a buck off his collection. But there's nothing like hearing AC/DC's "Givin the Dog a Bone" when sweeping the dust off a few crates of records.
Definitely looking forward to giving this local biz another shot.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 4Oh no 0 - Nov 27, 2017
I've traveled all up and down the East Coast visiting records stores. They are all different and all have a unique vibe and YL&S in no different.
YL&S is kind of a hybrid of a record store, skate shop, comic book joint and pinball hangout. Originally they catered to the punk side of music and to the used vinyl market but have branched out musically over the years to offer a nice eclectic offering of new releases and reissues (case in point see my pics for the shop).
They still keep with the store name and with the punk vibe but you will find an interesting mix of music and if Dale (the owner) can get it through his distribution he tries to get it in stock for you.
I've purchased everything from Charles Bradley to Liam Gallagher here and I always enjoy the talk with the staff. They are knowledgeable and friendly and seem to really enjoy what they do.
It's not the biggest shop or the deepest used section, but it's cool and different. If you don't find the record you're looking for then pick up a YL&S t-shirt and rep a local business, I got mine on BFRSD 2017....Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Duane F.Atlantic Beach, FL01Nov 17, 2019
Great little record shop. They haven't exactly closed but they have moved. They're now at 1890 Mealy St.

Punk record store, skateshop, and pinball arcade. There are places with more records, more decks and trucks, and more, well, everything . . . but not more of each of the types of products Young Loud & Snotty carries under the same roof. And nowhere in the Jax area has the cool factor they do here: this old-skool punk rock kept alive, complete with Misfits tees and lil skater groms in their Vans playing the pinball while aging hipsters in their Vans look through the records. This is store I could have imagined being around in 1988 but to find it now is a joy for sure.
The inventory could be larger and they could be on Park Street or elsewhere in Riverside/Avondale and possibly attract more of the type of folks who are gonna love this place, but aside from that, it's a gem.Helpful 5Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 0 - Chuck M.Neptune Beach, FL5162647Jul 26, 2017
You just don't find many awesome little record stores anymore, But nestled away in a small strip mall in Atlantic Beach across from Cantina Louie I found one! Young Loud and Snotty is more than a record store, They have skateboards and pinball machines!

Great record store at the beach. One that we will be going back to many times to check stock. My son was able to pick up an old NOFX record, but will need to spend more time in the "stacks" to find more good hardcore and punk. The guy who was in there - not the owner - was awesome. Put on a couple of records for us while we were there and just had some great conversation with him. Loved checking out all the skate stuff and the small, but cool selections of t shirts. I have a feeling you have to hi it right since the new inventory probably goes pretty fast. All in all this is a great store and one that my son and I will be going back to often

Went here last week. The place is very small but they have a lot of records, some cds and tapes, some dvds and vhs tapes, plenty of skate decks and other skate equipment, some clothing, and two pinball machines and some other games. Honestly - the record selection, which they carry the largest stock of, wasn't too impressive and the record prices were high. You see this a lot in places that don't have a lot of competition in terms of what they're selling. I imagine that locals are what keep this place in business, though I did see some lesser known movies and cds worth buying.
I'd go there again but only to hang out, unless I was trying to special order something. It's a place where you could dig around their selection for a long time though and the longhaired surfer on staff was nice and extremely chatty. I could see my 15 year old self loving this place and going there in my vans and flannel to hold hands while browsing with my boyfriend or something early Kevin Smith-esque.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Cody M.Jacksonville, FL292614Dec 31, 2013Updated review

Ya know, it's not bad!
I stopped in here because I wanted to check out some vinyl and this store has loooooads to go through. It was almost overwhelming. (Only because I'm easily overwhelmed and there was no filing system. Just ABC order.) If the records were maybe organized by genre, that would be a good help, but I digress.
The store reminded me of my old radio station I used to work in; Just with all the records everywhere. When you walk in there are posters, and flyers for local related/relevant events and the like. This store has old arcade/pinball machines; local cd's; even clothes (o.O). If you have spare time and just want to pop in and want some reasonably priced vinyl or discover some new/old tunes, i say pop in!
Oh and apparently this is also a skate shop...but ya know, I wasn't there for that haha.Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
