  • Sue Perkins will publish a second memoir in October about a life-changing trip
  • East Of Croydon charts her time making a documentary in the Far East
  • TV series The Mekong River with Sue Perkins saw her undertake a 3,000 mile journey

Comedian and television presenter Sue Perkins is to publish her second memoir this Autumn.

East Of Croydon - subtitled 'Blundering through India and South East Asia' - tells of her experience travelling the Mekong River for a TV documentary series, "from the vast delta in Vietnam to the remote and snowy peaks of Tibet".

To be published in hardback, eBook and audiobook formats by Michael Joseph on 18th October, it will explore both her physical exploration of the region, and her own journey pushing her boundaries.

In the book's official blurb, Perkins explains: "Up until that point, the farthest East I'd been was Torremolinos, in the Costa Del Sol.

"Here's the thing: I am scared of flying. I have zero practical skills. I can't survive if I am more than a three minute walk from a supermarket. For the last seven years I have suffered with crippling anxiety. I bolt when panicked. I cannot bear to witness humans or animals in distress. I have no ability to learn languages. I am a terrible hypochondriac. Oh, and I am no good with boats.

"So I said yes."

The book will follow on from her popular first memoir, Spectacles, which was published in 2015, which dealt with various aspects of her life, childhood and work up until that point.

Sue Perkins - East of Croydon

A few years ago I was asked if I'd like to make a documentary on the Mekong River, travelling from the vast delta in Vietnam to the remote and snowy peaks of Tibet.

Up until that point, the farthest East I'd been was Torremolinos, in the Costa Del Sol.

Here's the thing:

I am scared of flying.
I have zero practical skills.
I can't survive if I am more than a three minute walk from a supermarket.
For the last seven years I have suffered with crippling anxiety
I bolt when panicked.
I cannot bear to witness humans or animals in distress
I have no ability to learn languages.
I am a terrible hypochondriac

Oh, and I am no good with boats.

So I said yes.

Not in the UK?

Fear not! Many items can still be ordered. Amazon in the UK delivers to many international territories, whilst their Australia, USA and Canada stores also supply many equivalent or imported items.

If you are in the North America, look out for US/Canadian flag icons on popular product listings for direct links.

If you order from a UK store, please note that the UK is in Region 2 and B, respectively, for DVDs and Blu-rays - check your player's compatibility, or look for multi-region products if you are located in another region.

If you are in Australia or New Zealand (DVD Region 4), note that almost all DVDs distributed in the UK by the BBC and 2entertain are encoded for both Region 2 and Region 4. The UK and Australasia are in the same Blu-ray region (B).
