Anakin, Darth Vader, and Yoda are all coming to Disney Infinity. Today Disney officially unveiled version 3.0 of the game, which will introduce Star Wars characters into the toys-to-life series. Much like Skylanders or Nintendo's Amiibo, Disney Infinity blends toys and video games, letting you purchase figures and then scan them into the game to play with in virtual worlds. Previous versions mashed together characters from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel, so the addition of Star Wars only makes sense (it was also leaked ahead of time by a German retailer).

The game will span the entirety of the film timeline, with characters and levels set during the original and prequel trilogies, along with the upcoming film The Force Awakens. The $64.99 starter pack will include the game and Anakin and Ahsoka Tano figures, while a host of other Star Wars favorites will be available to purchase, including the likes of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Darth Maul, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Darth Vader. And because the series is all about mashing franchises, version 3.0 will also introduce playsets based on the upcoming Pixar movie Inside Out, as well as new Avengers characters from Age of Ultron — including Iron Man in hulkbuster armor.

Series developer Avalanche Software is still working on the game, but the studio has also enlisted the help of a number of notable developers. Heavenly Sword studio Ninja Theory is working on the game's combat, while Sumo Digital — the team behind the surprisingly excellent Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing — is tuning the new and improved driving mechanics. (And yes, you'll be able to pilot a pod racer.) No release date has been announced, but the game is expected to launch this fall for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U, and PC, as well as mobile versions for both iOS and Android.

The release of Disney Infinity 3.0 only adds to a busy season for Star Wars fans, which will also include the release of Star Wars: Battlefront in November and The Force Awakens in December. The new Disney Infinity will also be entering an even more crowded market thanks to the upcoming release of Lego Dimensions.
