“Mad Max: Fury Road”: In a post-apocalyptic world in which people fight to the death, Max (Tom Hardy) teams up with a mysterious woman, Furiousa, to try to survive. With Charlize Theron. Rated R for violence and disturbing images.

“Pitch Perfect 2”: Sequel to the 2012 hit finds collegiate a cappella group the Barden Bellas entering an international competition that no American team has ever won. With Anna Kendrick, Elizabeth Banks and Hailee Steinfeld. Rated PG-13 for innuendo and language.

“Iris”: Documentary about fashion icon Iris Apfel. Rated PG-13 for language.

“Poltergeist”: The 1982 hit about a suburban family whose home is invaded by evil gets a makeover with a cast headed by Sam Rockwell. Produced by metro Detroit native Sam Raimi. Rated PG-13 for intensely frightening sequences, suggestive content and language.

“Tomorrowland”: Sci-fi adventure about a former boy genius (George Clooney) who’s jaded by disillusionment, an optimistic teen (Britt Robertson) who’s curious about science and their journey to an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as Tomorrowland. Rated PG for sci-fi action and peril, mature themes and language.

“San Andreas”: In the aftermath of a massive earthquake in California, a rescue-chopper pilot makes a dangerous journey across the state to rescue his estranged daughter. With Dwayne Johnson, Alexandra Daddario, Carla Gugino and Paul Giamatti. Rated PG-13 for language and intense disaster action and mayhem.

“Entourage”: The long-awaited movie inspired by the long-running HBO comedy-drama about showbiz. Adrian Grenier, Jeremy Piven and Kevin Connolly star. Rated R for language, sexual content, nudity and drug use.

“I’ll See You in My Dreams”: After she’s forced to confront her fears about love, family and death, a widow in her 70s falls into relationships with two very different men. With Blythe Danner, Sam Elliott and Martin Starr. Rated PG-13 for sexual content, drug use and language.

“Insidious: Chapter 3”: This prequel is set before the haunting of the Lambert family, whom we met in the first two films. It reveals how a gifted psychic reluctantly agreed to help a teenage girl targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity. With Dermot Mulroney. Rated PG-13 for violence, frightening images, language and mature themes.

“Love & Mercy”: Paul Dano and John Cusack play singer, songwriter and Beach Boys cofounder Brian Wilson in this decades-spanning biopic. Rated PG-13 for mature themes, drug content and language.

“Spy”: Action comedy about a desk-bound CIA analyst (Melissa McCarthy) who volunteers to infiltrate the world of a deadly arms dealer and prevent global disaster. With Jason Statham and Rose Byrne. Rated R for language, violence, sexual content and brief graphic nudity.

“Sunshine Superman”: Documentary about Carl Boenish, the father of the BASE jumping movement whose early passion for skydiving led him to spectacular and dangerous feats. Rated PG for mature themes, language, smoking, and a brief nude image.

“Jurassic World”: Two decades after the events of “Jurassic Park,” Isla Nublar is now a fully functioning dinosaur theme park called Jurassic World, but its visitor rates are declining. Bad things happen after its corporate overseers order the creation of a new star attraction. Chris Pratt stars. Not yet rated.

“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl”: The big hit at this year’s Sundance Film Festival is about a teenage filmmaker who befriends a classmate who has cancer. With Olivia Cooke, Nick Offerman and Connie Britton. Rated PG-13 for sexual content, drug content, language and mature themes.

“Saint Laurent”: Biographical drama about famed fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent is set primarily between 1967 and 1976, the peak years of his career. Rated R for graphic nudity, sexual situations, substance abuse and language. In English and French with English subtitles.
