GREAT APRIL EVENTS IN DENVER “REAL WORLD APPLICATIONS”

Denver’s Greg Markling, FCSI, Lifetime Member, CCS, CCCA, NCARB, SCIP gav e an outstanding presentation at the April 14 luncheon meeting that required us to be role players in challenging construction dramas. Taken from actual situations in Greg’s experience, we thought about problems from different viewpoints than the ones we customarily use. And discovered that oftentimes more than one party could have caught something in an early stage that later became very costly to fix. Learning and working together – that is CSI’s world and one of its relevant messages to the industry. Editor’s note: Photographer was far too interested in Greg’s presentation to stop and take a picture – the one at right was taken from his presentation of the same topic at the Region Conference 2014.

PINNACLE LIGHTING TOUR On April 21, we took a fascinating tour of a local architectural light fixture manufacturing facility. Thanks to Morayma Salas, CSI, CCCA for scheduling this event. We focused a lot on the latest LED technology and saw fascinating lighting applications in their office which also serves as a real world showroom. Check out the Chapter website Gallery for more pictures.

COMING IN MAY: HOW WE EDIT SPECS

On May 10, we will feature the presentation by A. Michael Voigt, RA, CSI, CCS titled “How We Edit Specs.” Come and hear about: • Automation software for specifications and drawings - can they be friends? • What automation software for specifications is capable of doing? • How much does it cost? Who should consider investing in it? What kind of HR & IT resources does it take to own it? • How dependable is it? Whether you’re an architect, engineer, contractor, manufacturer, product rep, owner, legal eagle, institution, consultant specifier . . . you need to know. It might be the future. Maybe it's here already. DENVER 2015: CREATING A FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION

JOB OPENING – YES, IN AFGHANISTAN

Communicating with and mentoring Afghan architects is part of the job. If you want to find out more, please contact David Bishton at 720-837-5194 or dbishton@constructionrx.com.
