Prof Chris Hollis named NIHR Senior Investigator

The School of Medicine is delighted to learn that Chris Hollis, Professor of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Director of NIHR MindTech HTC has been appointed as a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Senior Investigator. The award is made by Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer and Chair of the selection committee.

Senior Investigators are the NIHR’s pre-eminent researchers and represent the country’s most outstanding leaders of clinical and applied health and social care research. Senior Investigators are fundamental to the formation of the NIHR Faculty. NIHR Senior Investigators form the NIHR College, a prestigious body with a programme of events. They receive an annual award as a personal discretionary fund, and attract additional NIHR Research Capability Funding to the main NHS organisation with which they hold a contract of employment or an honorary contract. Senior Investigators provide research leadership to the NIHR Faculty, promoting clinical and applied research in health and social care. They also help in planning and speaking at events, host visiting fellows and mentor Trainees and constitute a network of experts, able to provide advice to the Department of Health's Director General for Research and Development.

Professor Hollis joins Professors Philip Bath (Stroke), Marion Walker (Stroke Rehabilitation) and Hywel Williams (Centre of Evidence Based Dermatology) as NIHR Senior Investigators within the School of Medicine.
