Stone Temple Pilots post tribute to Chester Bennington

Several musicians have paid tribute to Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, who committed suicide earlier this week. The latest is Stone Temple Pilots, for whom Bennington sang lead vocals from 2013-2015. On their website, they write:

It is a sad day today to know that so many of us will no longer share in your laughter, friendship and love. You showed us time and time again what it is to be an incredible human being. A beacon of light and hope is what you will always be to us. We love you Chester. We will miss you.

Stereogum also points to audio of Chester joining STP on stage when the late Scott Weiland was still their frontman, during a 2001 Linkin Park/STP tour. Listen below.

Chester’s Linkin Park bandmate Mike Shinoda tweeted yesterday: “Shocked and heartbroken, but it’s true. An official statement will come out as soon as we have one.”
