The Bay County Sheriff's Office has charged two men with sexual battery after a video surfaced in a separate investigation by the Troy (Ala.) Police Department. According to a news release from the BCSO, "(t)he video appeared to be of a gang rape that occurred on Panama City Beach during Spring Break."
The BCSO said the department received the video from Troy PD on April 2, and were able to identify the victim. The BCSO news release said "it was established the incident took place between March 10, 2015, to March 12, 2015, on the sandy beaches of Panama City Beach behind Spinnaker on Thomas Drive."
Delonte' Martistee, 22, of Bainbridge, Ga., and Ryan Austin Calhoun, 23, of Mobile, Ala., were charged with sexual battery by multiple perpetrators. The BCSO said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
The video surfaced as part of a Troy police investigation into a shooting that occurred in their jurisdiction.
Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen called the video "the most sickening, disgusting" thing he's seen, according to a Twitter posting by Panama City News Herald reporter Zack McDonald.
UPDATE: According to WSFA in Montgomery, Calhoun and Martistee are students at Troy University. University officials told WSFA they have been suspended from the university and Martistee has been "removed" from the school's track team.
