It’s been a cold, never-ending winter, I know. I understand. There were days when we had to dig out from under three feet of snow just to walk out the front door. But today? Today the sun is shining and the birds are chirping and the skies are blue and the grass is green. Almost. So let’s shake off those winter blues and get decorating. Here are a few simple ideas to refresh your home for spring.
Flowers
Local big box stores have flowers by the armful for under $5.00. Buy several bunches and add a few pops of color around the home. Then add greenery and branches from the yard to make your flower bunches multiply.
Add a little color to your outdoor spaces
I decorate my porches and decks like they are room – rooms that I want to have sweet tea in. Add simple, inexpensive outdoor rugs and accessories and outdoor lighting. Then finish off your space with pops of color in bright and beautiful outdoor fabrics.
Plant bulbs
There’s no easier way to feel like a champion gardener than to plant a few bulbs. It’s so easy. You can buy bulb kits at the hardware store. Simply follow the directions on the kit and then plant your bulbs in beautiful containers and wait for spring to bloom.
Let your front door say hello
When I walk up to my front door, I want it to greet me with style. Add over-sized plantings to vintage fruit baskets and a monogrammed door mat and replace the standard wreath with a one-of-a-kind iron architectural piece.
Lastly, add interest with wooden orbs and spheres that have an over-abundance of personality. The seasons are changing.
