Florida State DB P.J. Williams was a major cog in the Seminoles' 2013 title run.

TALLAHASSEE — Former Florida State defensive back P.J. Williams was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Friday morning in Tallahassee.

Williams, whose full name is Kenneth Lamar Williams, was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. ET by the Florida State University Police Department after he made an illegal left turn on Dewey Street out of the McDonald's parking lot. There is a posted sign prohibiting a left turn.

He was driving the rental car on a suspended license, according to court records.

Williams, 21, stopped during a green light at the intersection of Dewey and Tennessee Streets before turning onto Tennessee Street.

He swerved over the center line several times and the outside line nearly hitting the curb before he was stopped, court records show.

The FSUPD officer noticed Williams' eyes were red and watery and he spoke with slurred speech, according to court records.

He told officers he was coming from local bar Recess. His stance swayed and he braced against the door of the vehicle when officers asked him to exit.

He refused a field sobriety test and to give a breath sample at the Leon County Jail.

Williams told police he played football for FSU and he "just wanted to go home," before being transported to the jail, the arrest report states.

Williams declared to enter the 2015 NFL draft after his junior season on the Seminoles football team, and was projected by many to be a first-round pick after his performance during FSU's pro day on Tuesday.

But his draft stock will likely take a considerable hit when the draft begins in Chicago on April 30.

Williams, who is from Ocala, Fla., said Tuesday he had meetings "with a few teams" lined up after pro day, and he already had a workout with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has also visited with the Detroit Lions in March.

His biggest accomplishment as a Seminole was winning defensive MVP honors in FSU's national championship victory over Auburn in 2013.

Williams finished his career at FSU with 123 tackles and 18 pass breakups in 40 games with 24 starts.
