VIRTUAL FUNDRAISER Strangers in a Strange Land Collaborative Works Festival Concert in partnership with the Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago

October 22- October 30, starting at 7 pm CDT

Performed at the Driehaus Museum on Friday, October 8th, from the intimate setting of the Nickerson Mansion Ballroom, CAIC’s Strangers in a Strange Land Collaborative Works Festival concert features the music of composers who immigrated to the United States or migrated from the American South to points north, east, and west. Held on the 150th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great Chicago Fire, a pivotal moment in the history of the city’s immigrant and migrant communities, the concert’s showcase of the work of these composers is a special reflection on embracing a strange land as home. Among the composers featured are Irving Berlin, Florence Price, Robert Owens, and Jorge Sosa. The program for this performance, and others in the Festival is available here.

And, just as the City of Chicago galvanized to help rebuild after the Fire, we need your help to sustain the Museum in its work to elevate emerging artists, enhance our storytelling, preserve our collection, and care for an important Chicago landmark, the Museum’s historic home. The Driehaus Museum’s immersive learning environment is designed to uplift the spirit and inspire dreams for the future. Please enjoy the concert, starting at 7 pm CDT on October 22nd through 11:59 pm CDT on October 30th and consider a donation to the Museum.
