Do
you have a specific writing style?
I am very much a linear writer with a pantser slant
(!). I start the book and I write the story as it comes to me, along with the
characters. I have tried to plan my latest book (The Summer House – English
Hearts book 1) but was worried I would get bored. I’m not bored but the story
is certainly not going the way I was planning.
How
did you come up with the title for your latest book?
I love the idea of sitting inside a cozy house, with
a cup of tea and slice of cake, relaxed and calm, possibly with a book to read.
And it must be raining. The sound of rain on the windows is a beautiful sound
to hear when you are all cosy inside. The cake the character makes in my
cookbook story is one meant for such a day. Hence For A Rainy Afternoon.
Do
you title the book first or wait until after it’s complete?
A lot of the time the title comes first because I am
most independently published now and I always have the cover art done first. As
yet I have not had to have a cover changed with a new title, so that is a good
thing.
Is
there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
That love can be found in the strangest of places
and that we can learn a lot from the lives of people who have gone before us.
What
books/authors have influenced your life?
When we talk influencing my life, then I would have
to look at Enid Blyton, CS Lewis, Willard Price, all from my childhood, all with strong male
relationships. My biggest influence on the romance / HEA that I write is
probably the copious amount of Harlequin books I devoured in my teens and early
twenties
What
book are you reading now?
I am reading Signs by Anna Martin. I am reading it
alongside some author friends and it is the first in our *book club* that we
are reading as a group. Very interesting thing to do.
What
is your current “work in progress” or upcoming projects?
My current WIP is The Summer House. My most recent
release was Max and The Prince (Bodyguards Inc. book 3) – it was out 27 March.
Can
you share a little of your current work with us?
The Summer House is the story of two men who find
accepting love a challenge for different reasons. The WIP blurb is: The only
person Ashby Sterling-Haynes can form an attachment to is his fourteen year old
niece, and even that is in jeopardy when he is given the responsibility of
looking after her cat while she is on holiday.
Veterinarian, Connor Lawson is much happier working
with animals than with people. He has deliberately returned home and to the
Summer House he recalled from childhood holidays for peace and quiet and the
chance to heal from wounds no one would ever see. When his next door neighbor
comes into the practice with a cat that has been in a fight he hides in his
office because this Ashby guy is all kinds of dangerous. Too hot, too rich, too
titled, and way too sexy for his own good.
Can two men who refuse to believe in love ever learn
that love is the easy part of the journey to forever?
Who
is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?
I love Jordan L Hawk, her ability to world build is
amazing. If you haven’t read her SPECTR books then run, don’t walk. J
I also love Eli Easton and Jay Northcote.
Do
you have to travel much to do research for your books?
Most of my books are set in the US and although I do
go to the US for GRL I rely on internet research and finding people who live in
the vicinity of my story.
Who
designed the cover of your latest book?
My cover art for my independently published books is
by Meredith Russell. She is a brilliant cover artist who just gets me.
Do
you have any advice for other writers?
Don’t ever stop writing.

Tales of the Curious Cookbook
It’s called comfort food for a reason.
Not much is known about the cookbook, except that years ago, the mysterious Granny B collected a set of magical recipes and wrote them down. Over the years, each book has been modified, corrected, added to, and passed down through the generations to accumulate its own unique history. The secrets behind these very special recipes are about to find their way into new hands and new lives, just when they’re needed the most.
Food created out of love casts a spell all its own, but Granny B’s recipes add a little something extra. This curious cookbook holds not only delicious food, but also the secrets of love, trust, and healing, and it’s about to work its magic once again.
About the Author:
RJ Scott has been writing since age six, when she was made to stay in at lunchtime for an infraction involving cookies. She was told to write a story and two sides of paper about a trapped princess later, a lover of writing was born.
As an avid reader herself, she can be found reading anything from thrillers to sci-fi to horror. However, her first real true love will always be the world of romance where she takes cowboys, bodyguards, firemen and billionaires (to name a few) and writes dramatic and romantic stories of love and passion between these men.
With over sixty titles to her name and counting, she is the author of the award winning book, The Christmas Throwaway. She is also known for the Texas series charting the lives of Riley and Jack, and the Sanctuary series following the work of the Sanctuary Foundation and the people it protects.
Her goal is to write stories with a heart of romance, a troubled road to reach happiness, and most importantly a happy ever after.
