The sinking of the Titanic, the outbreak of two world wars, 26 Prime Ministers entering (and 25 exiting) Downing Street and the coronations of two Kings and one Queen - Grace Jones, Britain's oldest person, witnessed them all. And now she's shared her secret for a long and happy life on her 112th birthday.

'Amazing Grace', as she's affectionately known to her family and friends, lives in the Cotswolds. Grace told Gloucestershire Live that she attributes her 112 years to a sunny disposition and drinking a "tot" of Famous Grouse single malt whisky every day for 60 years.

"Whisky is very good for you," she said.

"I started having a nightly tot of it when I turned 50 so I've been having it every night for the last 60 years and I certainly have no intention of stopping now.

"My doctor said 'Keep up with the whisky Grace, it's good for your heart'."

Grace was born on 16th September 1906. She became Britain's oldest person after Olive Evelyn Boar, from Suffolk, died in August at the age of 113. Not that age phases the supercentenarian, who said she still feels 60 at heart.

Grace's fondest memory was marrying her late husband Leonard Roderick Jones, an engineer, in Liverpool in 1933. She described him as "a true gentleman". Leonard passed away in 1986, aged 79.

Since then, she's maintained a positive outlook and stayed active by dancing and playing tennis. Something her daughter Deirdre McCarthy, 80, believes has kept her healthy over the years.

"My mother is the most remarkable person," she told ITV's This Morning.

"She still moves around, she lives in her own home...she doesn't have an ache in her body," Deirdre told Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford. "She just enjoys life."

Grace is now looking forward to celebrating her 113th birthday next year.
