Meck. Co. Commissioners Speak Out On Protests

CHARLOTTE, NC– Mecklenburg County Commissioners met this afternoon in a special session to discuss ways to address the concerns of people protesting the shooting of Keith Scott.

The board unanimously approved a resolution to address systemic change, and will start working on an action plan.

One commissioner admits there is a disconnect between elected leaders and some of the public.

“I think that its important that for people to hear that those in leadership positions hear them and admit that there are some problems,” said Commissioner Jim Puckett.

More than 100 people voiced their frustrations with how Scott’s death was handled at last night’s City Council meeting, calling for Charlotte Mayor Jennifer Roberts and CMPD Chief Kerr Putney to resign.
