Brothers Osborne Set Course For Sophomore Album, ‘Port Saint Joe’

Reigning CMA Vocal Duo of the Year Brothers Osborne have set April 20 as the release date for their highly-anticipated sophomore album, Port Saint Joe. Named for the small Florida coastal town of where they recorded the project, the brothers tried to keep things as authentic as possible, including imperfections and clarity on the 10 featured songs.
“Port Saint Joe is a sonic representation of who we’ve become not only as a band but as people,” explained John Osborne in a press release. “Every show we’ve ever played together is on this record. Every song we’ve ever written and every mile we’ve ever ridden has led to the making of this record. Imperfections and all.”
Fans have already been treated to the project’s lead single, “Shoot Me Straight,” which is a nearly seven-minute track.
“I had three minutes to sing, so why not give him three minutes to play the guitar?” mused TJ Osborne to the Associated Press.
“There used to be a time when a song that was 6 or 7 or 8 minutes long with a long guitar solo, that wasn’t a weird concept,” added John. “It wasn’t taboo. If you look back at ‘Freebird’ or ‘Hotel California,’ the solo is as much of the song as the actual song is.”
As Brothers Osborne celebrate the announcement of their sophomore effort, the two are gearing up for the 60th GRAMMY Awards where they will perform a tribute to the victims of the Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting with Eric Church and Maren Morris. The duo is also nominated for Best Country Duo/Group Performance with their song “It Ain’t My Fault.” The 60th GRAMMY Awards will air live on CBS this Sunday, January 28 at 7:30pm ET.
