NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) – A motorcyclist, who flipped over a guardrail on Interstate 310 Wednesday afternoon, was pulled from the marsh alive and conscious, the Louisiana State Police said. The accident happened around 1 p.m. on I-310 near the I-10 split, just west of New Orleans. Trooper Melissa Matey said the motorcyclist was riding a 3-wheel cycle when it had a mechanical issue which caused him to crash into the side of the interstate and fall about 40-feet into a swamp.  WGNO News captured exclusive video from the interstate of the rescue.  A Louisiana DOTD traffic camera was also able to show the rescue.  Click on the video button below to see more of the rescue and comments from Trooper Matey. The rider is identified as 53-year-old James Seawright of Gray, Louisiana.  He was taken to a hospital with a back and leg injury, but Matey said those injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. A witness told WGNO that Seawright flipped multiple times after hitting the guardrail. During the rescue, the left lanes of I-310 in both directs were blocked.
