Alabama practice report: Notes on RBs, LBs and a perfect sunset

Coming off Wednesday's steamy practice, just about anything would be a welcomed break.

A Thursday evening workout for the Alabama football team had a more comfortable setting. With temperatures in the low 80s and a nice breeze, the Crimson Tide hit the field for the second-to-last practice before Saturday's scrimmage. The sunset was something out of an oil painting.

--Josh Jacobs was again absent after being out since at least Saturday with a hamstring injury.

-- Ronnie Clark again practiced with the running backs after playing with the tight ends since the spring. Depth was considered the strength of the running back room so there are players to fill in if Jacobs is out any extended period of time.

-- Watching what appeared to be the base defense, it looked like Christian Miller and Anfernee Jennings were running with the first group.

-- Mack Wilson was shadowing Shaun Dion Hamilton at middle linebacker.

-- Players were in full pads.

-- The practice fields are starting to get a little chewed up after a few weeks of steady rainfall. Players were seen slipping a few times in recent practices but nothing that would appear to be a real issue. They swap fields when one gets considerable damage.

-- Practice resumes mid-Friday afternoon when the weather likely won't be as accommodating.
