Excellent

A fresh coat of paint on a classic
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Link's Awakening was never my favorite Zelda game, and I haven't played it as much as others, but it's still been a classic overall game. This "remake" is as good as anyone could have hoped for. It's literally the same game, but with newer graphics. It's a Zelda game so nobody really needs an endorsement; every Zelda game is worth owning. This Dreamer Edition was neat since it came with a little art book. Nothing amazing, but it's nice to have. The only downside is the shipping process caused every corner of my box to be squished in, with 1 side in particular squished down quite a bit. The game works and the book wasn't damaged, but I could see a serious in box collector being annoyed by it. Overall it's a great game that is a classic with updated graphics. Definitely worth getting.

A solid remake
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Link's Awakening was admittedly never one of my favorite games in the Zelda series. I always found the puzzles too nebulous, and clues on where to go and what to do next to be vague to nonexistent. It's probably not a game that you'll finish without the help of an online guide from time to time. That being said, this is a near-perfect remake of the Game Boy original with a really nice, shiny new coat of paint and an expanded control set that is very, very welcome. Having originally been a portable game, the overworld is not as vast or explorable as many other Zelda games; it's a bit more confined than you might expect, with lots of areas being closed off to you until you've found the proper items. I finished this game in 25 hours and mostly had a good time playing it, and it's a nice filler game between Breath of the Wild and its sequel. I'm not sure it's quite worth the full $60-70 asking price of more expansive retail releases, but if you're a Zelda fan, you'll find plenty to enjoy. The art book that came with the Dreamer Edition is very high quality and a nice special edition add-on, though Nintendo rarely produces more of these editions after their first run. All around, a fun game and a recommended purchase.

This is how you do remakes, people!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game is wonderful, the music is remastered and very fitting in terms of their choice/style of orchestrating. Those who’ve played the retro version will be pleased by this remake, which retains the same quirks and charm, while ironing out some gameplay mechanics here and there. Remakes are great when the end result just works. The game is also compatible with a prior LoZ amiibo, and the new Link’s Awakening amiibo, which gives you the special Dark Link npc for your dungeon designs. The dreamer edition came with an art book, which contains a lot of the development/production art, and some early concepts/iterations. Although it’s small in terms of width and length, it contains a good amount of pages. I think it’s the same length as the EU version, but don’t hold me to it. It’s a shame we didn’t get the steelbook, but hey, at least we got something! The price for the game and the book is a steal. Get this in store if you’re able to find it!

Puts modern polish on a beloved classic
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved reliving every moment of a classic game I beat many times on my original GameBoy and GameBoy Color. Everything you loved about those games is in here, now with gorgeous presentation, beautiful new music arrangements, and streamlined controls. The original and DX versions of this games played so well that I'm actually glad that the Switch remake left nearly everything as it was, at least structurally. I see this version as a way for modern gamers and old fans to enjoy what I feel is one of the best games in the series. As much as I loved my time beating the game again (it seriously is just as delightful as my first time with the orignal), the dungeon maker portion didn't wow me. Go into the game for the overall adventure, but don't expect to make your own truly custom dungeons. At best, it's a neat extra and kind of interesting once you've finished the game.

Great remake of a classic
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a remake of the original Link's Awakening for the Gameboy from back in 1993. It is a very faithful recreation with the locations and gameplay almost identical the the original. The graphics have gotten a complete makeover and are now in a toy style thatbis similar to the yarn aesthetic Nintendo has been using more often lately with the Yoshi and Kirby games. QoL changes have been made with the sword, shield, Pegasus boots, and power bracelet having dedicated buttons instead of having to swap out items two at a time as required by hardware limitations in the original. There are also more warp points, and when you continue the game from a save you start off exactly where you were instead of the last building or cave you exited. It's a great game and would be good for both new Zelda players and those who experienced the original Link's Awakening when it came out.

A Classic Reborn
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. One of the best 2D Zeldas is reborn. I love this game. It’s a beautiful little quirky treasure that deserves to be celebrated. This is Zelda meets Twin Peaks with its characters and story. The vibe is surreal and slightly off-kilter. It’s a short game brimming with charm and love. The new art style is gorgeous. It does however have a tendency to chug in certain areas of the over world. I don’t believe this seriously hampered my experience though. Any Zelda fan has to play this. The Dreamer edition also came with an art book which was nice. Play it, you. Don’t ignore me. Buy it. Capisce?

Asked by person.
- A:Answer I don’t think so.

Q: QuestionWhen will this be available for preorder again?
Asked by Tammy.
- A:Answer It depends on if you click on the item at the right time. However it appears at random times, so you have to be lucky. Luckily I got a copy at 6:00 here on Best Buy. (Hopes this helps.)

Q: QuestionWhen will the next day this will be availiable again cause i want to get this with the game
Asked by Mason.
- A:Answer The last time I saw this available was 9/19 at night, and it was only “check stores.” You might want to just keep checking back or call some nearby stores. Sorry we don’t really know when. (But if anything, you could just buy the art book separately as a secondhand purchase, I don’t think it’ll be too expensive. I mean, this isn’t much of a good answer, but it’s an idea.)

Q: QuestionCan I preprder
Asked by Cyndee.
- A:Answer Yes. However you have to be lucky to pre order. It happens at random times. I got my copy at 6:00Pm Best Buy. (If you want to know what times I clicked on the times I got lucky to pre order were 6:00Pm, 12:00Am, 3:00Pm, 4:00Pm and 7:00Pm.) (Hope I was able to help.)

Q: QuestionDo you get a 10 dollar card for pre ordering the game
Asked by TheBigTicket.
- A:Answer Nope! That’s only for Contra Rogue Corps and Pokémon Sword/Shield currently, for the switch games.

Q: QuestionIs the art book in this edition the same 120 page art book in the UK limited edition? I know this doesn't have the steel book, but I'm more concerned that the art book is smaller and has less content because it doesn't say how large it is.
Asked by SmooshBro.
- A:Answer It looks like the same one, content-wise. Haven’t counted the pages, but I think it just has a different cover.
Answered by Jott
Q: QuestionWhen will this be in stock again I want to pre order it but I assume thats not going to be possible
Asked by Mason.
- A:Answer Chances are low. But you’re just missing out on the art book, which is available online secondhand (elsewhere...)
