#48in48: Join Global News to sign up 48,000 organ donors in 48 hours

WATCH: More than 4,600 Canadians are living with the uncertainty of waiting for an organ donation. As Jennifer Tryon reports, Canada could take some lessons from Spain — the country that leads the world in organ donation.

VANCOUVER – Starting Monday, April 20, Global News wants to help sign up 48,000 people across Canada to become organ donors.

More than 1,600 Canadians are added to organ wait lists every year.

According to the Canadian Transplant Society, an overwhelming majority of Canadians support organ and tissue donation, but less than 25 per cent of people have actually made plans to donate.

We want to change that.

On Monday, April 20, and Tuesday, April 21, we will be holding a TV, online and social media registration blitz to kick off organ donor awareness week, running April 19 to 25.
