Gaelic Word of the Week 96 - Solas - Light by ScotParl published on 2015-04-09T12:34:59Z This week science is in the spotlight at the Scottish Parliament – Pàrlamaid na h-Alba. Throughout April, you can see the Incredible Power of Light exhibition which is visiting Pàrlamaid na h-Alba as part of the Edinburgh Science Festival – Fèis Saidheans Eadar-nàiseanta Dhùn Èideann. The Gaelic for light is solas. At the heart of the exhibition will be lasers – leusairean including a model of the Vulcan laser – the most powerful in the world. The Vulcan is 10,000 times more powerful than the National Grid and is a laser facility delivering pulses of light up to one petawatt of energy. Alongside the laser will be animations, interactive exhibits, hardware and displays that will all tell the story of how lasers impact on our everyday lives. The exhibition – taisbeanadh – will be in Pàrlamaid na h-Alba until 30th April. This week's Gaelic Word of the Week is solas - light. Genre gaidhlig
