The wooden boat was hand-made by members of the boat club that craft boats commonly used more than 100 years ago. This vessel was commonly used for fishing, according to the group.

Steve Kingery crossed his fingers before he gripped the starter rope to a 1920s motor aboard the Crystal River Boat Builders’ wooden vessel, “The Silver Tide.”

A few scores of people watched the afternoon of Tuesday, March 9, from the shores of the Best Western Crystal River Resort as Kingery and his volunteer crew of shipwrights launched their latest replica of local nautical history.

Members of the Crystal River Boat Builders on March 9, 2021, launch their homemade vessel, "The Silver Tide," which is a replica craft of local fishing boats used from the late 1800s to the 1960s.
